Pressure Power

Clean and smooth

Vishal Shah explains some important industrial applications of high-pressure water jet pumps, wet sand blasting and others

Surface preparation is the key factor in determining the success of a protective coating system. The objective of surface preparation prior to applying a coating system is to create proper adhesion of the coating to the original surface. This will occur if a suitable level of surface cleanliness and roughness (profile) is achieved. There are a wide variety of surface preparation methods available, such as solvent cleaning, power-tool cleaning, dry sand blasting and so on. But, all these conventional methods are rarely used because they are time consuming, not costeffective, provide poor cleaning results and also create environmental pollution. Nowadays, wet sand blasting by high-pressure water jet pumps have got wide acceptance in the field of surface preparation as well as in paint removal.

Wet sand blasting:
It is a common procedure for removing paint and rust from steel or other metal surfaces. With this procedure, an abrasive material is mixed with the water jet to create an abrasive spray. This abrasive spray is blasted on the surface, which breaks away small pieces of coating corrosion or other undesirable substances to create the desired white metal finish, perfect for recoating. Wet sand blasting is widely used in various industries for different applications as it offers the following advantages vis-à-vis other conventional methods:

It does not create any environmental pollution caused by fluttering the micro power because of its water ingredient

It can remove the burrs (projections) and scales formed on the surface and clean the surface without damaging the work piece

The surface finishing can access a homogeneous matte finish (spot pattern). It can contribute significantly to the demand for surface roughness

It only applies small shot blasting effect to the surface to be finished and improves and reinforces the material of the work piece

The foreign materials after being removed will be rinsed and flushed out by the jet of water

It doesn't require any chemical during operation

It doesn't affect the dimensions of the object

 No harsh chemicals are used

Environmentally friendly option to remove burrs, flash and
